Duties may include patient transport, equipment and supplies pick up/delivery and inventory, activity coordination, transportation of lab or pathology specimens, or any other assistance as assigned.

Healthcare experience or experience with patients.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must have interest in the care of the sick.
Must be able to exhibit a courteous and friendly manner to others.
Department Specific Requirements N/A Essential Uses two identifiers when checking arm band with each patient, every time, before transporting to imaging department or back to their room or another department.
Patients will not be transported to any location without an armband.
Transports patients to locations as assigned.
Consistently follows all procedures regarding safe transport or transfer of patients.
Uses proper body mechanics at all times.
Provides necessary assistance with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as assigned.
Greets patient in friendly professional manner.
Identifies self by name and job category.
As assigned, assists patient with their needs.
Picks up or delivers equipment or supplies as assigned.
Checks and replaces equipment as needed.
Maintains inventory of equipment or supplies according to procedure.
Communicates condition of equipment using department procedure.
Supplies are delivered on time and department is well stocked.
Completes any paperwork or filing assigned, maintains logs or records, or checking patient charts for physician orders, labs, and consents prior to transporting the patient to surgery.
Department procedures followed at all times.
Assures hand washing or sanitizer is used before entering a patients room and after transporting patient to assigned location, for each patient, every time.
Completes department specific technical tasks.
Department procedure followed at all times.
Complies with current policies and procedures including safety and infection control.
Must keep all required certifications current.
Performs tasks safely.
Always keeps work areas clean and organized.
All gurneys and patient beds are cleaned before and after patient transport, prior to a new patient being placed onto, gurney or patient bed.
May help nurses in moving patients onto procedural beds and or assist in positioning patient onto gurney or patient bed.
Assures all O2 cylinders are transported in a manner consistent with Kaweah Health policies to assure safe handling at all times.
Assures O2 tank is full prior to transporting.
Places all empty O2 tanks in the correct location marked as empty.
Is aware of all colored armbands and what they mean.
Assures patient is observed and monitored while transporting.
Gurney and/or bed rails are up and wheels locked prior to leaving patient for nurse.
May have access to the following for the purpose of replenishment, stock rotation and expiration checks:
Unit specific, commercially prepared kits (medication and non-medication containing) Biopsy trays, supplies Syringes/needles Contrast material O2 tanks/cylinders Orders linen, positioning supplies, cleaning supplies, O2 tanks, Medical gas tanks, gloves, suture, disposable supplies, and formalin.
Delivers medications:
Medication/Contrast material can only be transported and will be delivered to RN.
Medication/Contrast material cannot be left unattended at any time while transporting.
RN must accompany all patients during a transfer if receiving blood products.
Picks blood up from blood bank.
Must have a red dot sticker on name badge verifying competency.
Cleans surgery suites in a timely manner.
Effectively cleans floors, walls, furniture, and equipment after each procedure.
Follows principles of asepsis in the environment decontamination and disinfection.
Organizes tasks and uses time efficiently in order to minimize turnaround time between procedures.
Addendum (essential for specific dept) Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
